Indian Echo Caverns is a natural underground attraction. While touring the caverns our visitors see nature’s underground beauty. Various formations and lakes accent the environment to make your tour a memorable experience.

Where is Indian Echo Caverns located?

Indian Echo Caverns is conveniently located 3 miles west of Hershey just off U. S. Route 322. Lancaster is about 45 minutes away and Gettysburg an hour away. We are within a short two hour drive from Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington. New York City and Pittsburgh are only a few hours away. The Harrisburg International Airport at Middletown is only 15 minutes away.

What are the hours of operation at Indian Echo Caverns?

Indian Echo Caverns is open between Memorial Day and Labor Day from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM. The last tour enters the caverns at 6:00 PM.

Between Labor Day and Memorial Day, Indian Echo Caverns is open from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. The last tour enters the caverns at 4:00 PM.

We are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Gem Mill Junction hours of operation are from Memorial Day until early October. Weather permitting we open earlier in the year and stay open later into the fall.

Are baby strollers allowed?

Due to the stairs both inside and outside the caverns strollers are not allowed.

Are baby backpacks allowed?

Yes they are, but it is preferred that they be worn on the chest rather than on the back.

What is there to do in the area?

There is an abundance of attractions in our area both fun and educational. Central PA offers so many things to see and things to do! The famous Hershey Park and Hershey’s Chocolate World are minutes away. The stunning Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg is just 25 minutes from our Caves, and you can visit the National Civil War and State Museums, Whitaker Center for Science & Art, historical mansions and City Island on the majestic Susquehanna River. Pennsylvania Dutch Country in the Lancaster area is 25 minutes away…the world of the Amish people and serene farmlands. Shopping is great around here with outlets, malls and boutiques, and the Bass Pro Shop for hunters and fishermen. What restaurants are close to the caverns?

From all the national chains, to four-star restaurants, to local eateries and pubs, we have something to suit every taste in Hummelstown, Hershey, and surrounding towns! Nearby Harrisburg features “Restaurant Row” on Second Street and surrounding area, where the street is lined with outstanding local restaurants, bars and entertainment options.

Are cameras and camcorders allowed?

Yes they are allowed as long as the operator stays with the group. Please keep in mind that flash is needed inside the caverns.

Are there any animals living inside the caverns?

Very seldom do we see a bat. Otherwise there is very little life seen inside.

Are there special tours or guidelines available for hearing impaired guests?

Yes, we have a written guide for our hearing impaired guests to take with them on their tour. This information is obtained at the ticket counter when tickets are purchased.

Are the caverns wheelchair accessible?

No due to the number of stairs and narrow passageways.

What is the temperature inside Indian Echo Caverns?

The temperature in the caverns is a consistent 52 degrees. You may want to bring a sweater, sweatshirt, or light jacket for the tour. Sweatshirts and jackets are available for purchase in the gift shop.

How long is the tour?

Each tour is approximately 45 minutes. Overall from the time the tour group is formed and by the time it returns to back to the gift shop area is about one hour.

Are pets allowed inside the caverns?

Yes, as long as they are held throughout the entire tour. No leashes please as they may tangle on the rocks and trip others on the tour. No Exceptions!

Yes we do. Please contact us or the local AAA for the discount.

Is there a fee for parking?

We do not charge a parking fee for tourists while visiting the caverns or our other attractions.

Can a wedding be performed inside the caverns or on the Property?

Yes, we have had numerous weddings at Indian Echo Caverns. Please call us for information.

What shoes should I wear inside the Caverns?

Tennis shoes, sneakers, boots, or any shoes that cover your toes are recommended. Sandals and flips flops are not recommended

Are the caverns handicapped accessible?

Due to the terrain of the caverns and stairs to the caverns, we are not handicapped
